  • Poole Spirits are handcrafted keepsakes born from the smuggler's haven of Poole, Dorset. Each one is made using traditional methods that honour the town’s rich maritime past and ghostly folklore. Every spirit is a unique creation, capturing a whisper of Poole’s haunted history.

  • Our spirits are currently only available through this website. As they grow bolder, you may one day spot them in curious corners beyond our online home. To be the first to hear if the spirits begin to roam, be sure to follow us on Instagram and join our mailing list.

    We do not currently offer gift vouchers - the spirits haven’t quite mastered the art of gifting themselves just yet.

  • Our most commonly encountered spirit stands at 8cm tall — a familiar form for those newly arrived from the beyond. However, as the spirits grow more confident in their haunt, you may begin to see them manifest in new sizes, hues, and curious forms.

    Each Poole Spirit is lovingly handmade, and no two are ever truly alike.

    From time to time, we conjure special editions inspired by Dorset folklore and long-whispered local legends. These rare spirits are released in small numbers and are highly sought after.

    To ensure fair passage for all, we may limit certain special editions to one per customer or shipping address.

  • Indeed — each spirit begins its journey in our workshop, shaped using our exclusive mould. But it’s the careful hand-finishing, subtle details, and quiet touches of the maker that give every spirit its own distinct personality. No two are ever quite the same… and some say, if you look closely, you might just catch a glimpse of the story they carry from the Smugglers Haven.

  • Each spirit is gently wrapped in protective paper, as if cloaked in the mists of the old smugglers’ haven. They rest within their own presentation box, waiting patiently to reveal themselves. Finally, the boxes are placed in sturdy postal packaging, ready for their journey to you — though many believe it’s not just the wrapping that keeps them safe, but the quiet watch of the harbour spirits guiding them home.

  • At this time, the spirits reveal themselves only in the forms we offer — each one shaped by the stories and whispers of the Smugglers Haven. While we don’t create individual commissions, you may find that the right spirit has a way of finding you.

  • The Poole Spirit Emporium doesn’t operate like a typical online store. Each of our spirits is handcrafted in small batches — not mass produced — which means we don’t always keep a constant stock available.

    Instead, spirits are released at select times throughout the year, either as limited batches or open-order windows for a short duration. When a release is announced, it will be made available via the Shop page of our website.

    To ensure fairness, we operate a one spirit per customer policy (though multiple members of the same household may place individual orders).

    For the latest news on upcoming spirit releases, we recommend following us on Instagram and subscribing to our email list at the bottom of our homepage. We always preview our releases in advance so you know exactly when and what to expect.

    We strongly suggest creating a customer account ahead of time — spirits tend to vanish quickly, and having your details saved will make the checkout process much swifter.

    If you visit outside a release window, the shop will appear empty — but rest assured, the spirits will return.

  • Accounts can be set up by following the link in the top right corner of our HOME page (to the left of the cart icon). An account will allow the user to pre enter data such as address and card details which will in turn greatly speed up the checkout process, fast checkout is important when trying to purchase limited releases. Log in to your account from the home page or shop page before adding to basket.

    Adding a spirit to your cart will not secure a sale, the spirits will not be allocated to you until the payment has been accepted. All successful purchases will be followed by an onscreen order confirmation and email order confirmation.

  • For deliveries within the UK, we charge a flat rate of £5.90, typically using DPD couriers. Once your parcel has been collected, you’ll receive notifications via text or email — please ensure you respond to these if prompted, to avoid missed deliveries. For areas not covered by DPD, we may use Royal Mail instead.

    • USA, Canada & Australia: £13.50

    • Europe: £10.00

    Important note for EU customers:
    Orders sent to countries within the European Union may be subject to import taxes or customs duties, which vary by country. These charges are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in your order total.

    During large releases, we dispatch parcels in the order they were placed. Please be aware that it may take up to 5 weeks to send out the final orders from a busy release.

    Estimated delivery times once dispatched:

    • UK: 1–2 working days

    • Europe: 3–7 working days

    • International: 5–10 working days

    If your parcel hasn’t arrived within these timeframes, please contact us as soon as possible. Our couriers require that missing parcel claims are made within 14 days for UK deliveries and 21 days internationally. Claims made outside this window cannot be processed.

    We’ll always try to keep you updated via our Instagram and mailing list during busier times.

  • As each of our spirits is handmade with care, and we are a small team, please allow up to 4 weeks from the date of your order for your spirit to be dispatched — especially during busy periods.

    A dispatch notification means your order has been packed and labelled, but it may not yet be in transit. Sometimes dispatches are processed early to amend details like addresses or contact info, but rest assured, spirits are always sent out in the order they were purchased.

    If your order status shows as ‘Pending’, don’t worry — this refers to the dispatch process, not your payment. If you have an order number, your spirit has been successfully purchased and is awaiting its journey to you.

    When your order is collected, you will receive tracking information from DPD. We strongly recommend setting your delivery preferences with them (e.g., safe places or neighbours) to avoid missed deliveries. If preferences are not set, parcels may be diverted to a pick-up shop or returned to us, which may cause delays or inconvenience.

    Most parcels are delivered within 48 hours of dispatch within the UK (excluding Fridays — these are usually delivered the following Monday).

    Please report any issues with your delivery directly to us by email at contact@poolespiritemporium.com.

    To allow us to resolve issues quickly:

    • UK orders: Report within 10 days of receiving your dispatch email.

    • International orders: Report within 14 days of dispatch.

    DPD only accepts delivery issue claims within 14 days (UK) and 21 days (International). If reports are made after this window, we may not be able to offer replacements or refunds.

    We’ll always do our very best to replace or refund any missing or damaged spirits, as long as the issue is reported within the timeframes above.

  • Free Spirits are wayward souls that have wandered far from Poole’s harbour, appearing unexpectedly in locations across the world. These unique spirits are free to whoever finds them first.

    Clues to their whereabouts are shared through our Instagram Stories, often accompanied by a vague hint or simply the name of a town or city. A dash of intuition and a pinch of good fortune may be needed if you’re to track one down successfully.

    Free Spirits appear rarely and without warning, and each one is marked with an official base stamp — either our compass symbol or the word ‘FREE’, followed by a unique number.

    If you come across a spirit without these identifiers, it was not placed by us or any of our trusted helpers.

  • We understand that once purchased a buyer may choose to do what they wish with a product. However, we do not support or endorse the buying of our spirits solely for third party selling, furthermore, if we have evidence that a customer is buying purely to resell for immediate profit then we shall exercise our rights to cancel the order(s) and choose not to accept future orders from the same customer or delivery address or those connected with buying this way. We reserve the right to limit or prohibit orders online or sales from the shop that, in our sole judgment, appear to be placed by dealers, resellers or distributors where our product is being bought specifically for reselling. for profit.

  • We would only recommend using a dry microfibre cloth to dust your spirits. Do not use cleaning sprays or polish. To preserve your spirit avoid prolonged contact with direct sunlight and do not keep a spirit in a kitchen or other rooms which produce airborne particles such as steam or cooking residues.

    Our spirits are relatively hardy but will not survive a fall from height onto a hard floor or an attack by a dog. You are able to keep your spirit outside, but the natural elements will erode it over time and may affect the colour.
